RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN – 85
Chamberlain, an actor, and singer co-founded a Los Angeles–based theatre group, Company of Angels. He then began appearing in television series in the 1950s. Richard Chamberlain was one of the most well-known teen idols from the 50s until the 60s. The first prominent role that catapulted him to the top of the Hollywood ladder was with the TV show, Dr. Kildare. After a few years, he had the privilege of playing Jason Bourne’s role in the first-ever film of the Bourne franchise, the 1988 film Bourne Identity.
At the age of 43, he met an actor-writer-producer whose name is Martin Rabbett, with whom he began to have a long-term relationship. Since they are very private, they decided to move to Hawaii to avoid the Hollywood glare. By the time he reached 69, he finally “came out” with a tell-all biography entitled Shattered Love: A Memoir, in which he honestly discussed the pain of hiding his homosexuality just to protect his enduring matinée idol image. He achieved a lot throughout his career, and it seems like he won’t need any personal loans for his retirement since he built up a $20 million fortune to his name throughout the years.
