Williams was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey in 1964. Wendy Williams may have risen to stardom with her television talk show The Wendy Williams Show, but she is also known for being a businesswoman, author, and media personality. Before going on TV, Williams was a radio DJ and host, and quickly became known as the “shock jockette” in New York. These things have helped her amass her huge net worth, which is now at $40 million.

Aside from this, she occasionally appears on television and movie projects, has written a book, and has other businesses. She wrote the best-selling autobiography of The New York Times and six other books, and created a product line including fashion lines, jewelry lines and wig lines. On her 50th birthday, the Asbury Park City Council in New Jersey changed the name of the street where she grew up on Wendy Williams Street.
