RICHARD SIMMONS | 73

The sudden disappearance of Richard Simmons in 2014 is still a hot topic today. In case you forgot, Simmons was reported missing in action back in February 2014 for his regular exercise class that he has done for over 40 years. The same incident happened the following days until his gym closed for good. Since then, Simmons was never seen again.

Richard Simmons is a fitness instructor, and video producer turned celebrity known for his Sweatin’ to the Oldies exercise videos. He established Slimmons gym that helps people to lose weight by eating healthy and exercising. The coach gained public attention due to his energetic and eccentric personality that people grew to love about him. Simmons is very empathetic and often approaches his clients with a personal touch. For his renown and expertise, he later emerged on TV. Simmons landed a role as himself in a TV series General Hospital that runs for years. As such, his investment money grew to millions that gave him a secured retirement life. As his abrupt withdrawal from the public was unlikely to him, it led the public to form conspiracy theories, including that he was murdered or was held captive by his housemaid. Simmons and his manager clarified that his decision to withdraw from the public was a personal choice. In 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, Simmons’s Youtube channel started uploading his old exercise videos to motivate people to exercise— and it led people to hope for his resurgence.
