SAM J. JONES | 67

In 1975, Jones started becoming a model. He performed in the full-frontal nude under the alias “Andrew Cooper III” as the centerfold for a photo-spread in the June issue of Playgirl magazine. He also appeared in TV commercials for sporting local goods in Seattle before moving to Los Angeles in 1977.

Sam J. Jones was the man behind the character in his titular film Flash Gordon. He also starred in the short-lived action-adventure television series The Highwayman that aired in the late 80s. He also worked as a magazine cover during the 70s. His career as an actor started to slow down during the late 90s and started working as a security professional for executives. He knew that working as an actor can’t provide a stable income and he took the job just to ease the home finances of his family. Now that’s a move that allowed them to live far from the bankruptcy line.
